Is there something buried deep inside your mind that you never want to dig it out? Are there some difficulties in your life that you try to avoid talking?
There are so many people who keep running away from their challenges. They run and run, and never want to face those challenges. Eventually, they run away from people that they don’t like or people that have made them feel hurt in the past. Also, they avoid visiting places that may trigger their bad memories.
Instead of dealing with their challenges, people take the easy way out – running away from the challenges…
But is this truly the “easier” solution? Are the challenges truly harder to solve?
The decision is scary because there are a number of unknown variables involved in the challenges. Therefore, there is no certainty to win these battles. There seems to be something deep within us that wants us to stay comfortable. Whenever we faced a challenge that will push us to our limits (physically or mentally), we always ask ourselves “Do I really have what it takes to do this?”.
That’s a hard question for anyone to answer. It tends to induce anxiety and makes us doubt ourselves… If it’s a new adventure, how do we know if we have what it takes because we have never walked this path before? No, we don’t. No one can predict the future. But that’s how we grow up since we were babies – we grow through experiences.
During the journey of life, there are always ups and downs. It’s not about succeeding in everything all the time. All great successful people have crossed through failures, but the difference is that they always learn through their failures and then get back up to try again with the same level of enthusiasm.
Don’t let the fears make your challenges bigger than they are. You don’t truly fail until you don’t learn from your experiences. And thus, it’s not the chances of Success or Failure. It’s only a chance to Win or an opportunity to Learn.
Remember: Running away from your challenges is a race that you will never win.
Your challenges will always catch up. Perhaps not today, but tomorrow or the next day or the day after that, they will show up again, and again. Then what?
By then, you will have to face them again, and again. You would get more and more tired because you have been using up your energy in your mind to run away countless. Finally, one day, time’s up: There is no more option for you to run away, but you will be so exhausted…
If it’s not a permanent solution, then why keep running?
Let’s face the challenges from the start:
This allows you to be at your strongest, while the fears are at their weakest. The paths are not always easy, and the fears can be scary. But a diamond cannot be polished without friction. Similarly, you cannot fully develop your skills without being challenged by obstacles and failures. Let’s face these fears today!!
“The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” (quoted from Winston Churchill)
